“We recently had an excellent experience with Marika Hahn of Sweet and Savory in putting together a bridal lunch for my niece. Marika met with us as a group–6 bridesmaids, the bride, her mother, and myself–and she helped us brainstorm what to serve to 35 people, at my home. Then, she did all the shopping and met with us in my kitchen on a Saturday. She showed each of us what to do, and how to put soup and salad type things together in a simple but interesting way. It was so much fun! Even for those of us (most of us) who aren’t that great in the cooking department. Marika not only knows the world about food, she makes you feel her own joy of making simple things which are really good to eat. We just had the best time with her, and I keep trying to think of how we might work her into some more fun family occasions. “Marika arranged a wonderful Saturday afternoon party for me and five women friends last month. Our theme was “attacking pie crust paranoia”. Although we all cook fairly well, we were all intimidated by pie crust dough.. Marika took us through the steps clearly, patiently answering our many questions and demystifying this culinary skill. Together we made a sweet crust and a plain crust, which became a frangipani pear dessert tart and an onion-spinach-gruyere quiche, respectively. We enjoyed these with some excellent wines. My friends had a terrific and unusual time while mastering a new skill. And we felt like we had made a new friend in Marika, who is simply delightful — warm, kind, upbeat and great fun. Thanks!”
